CITY OF RIVERTON · CALIFORNIA Office of the City Clerk Ordinance No. 1187 · July 28, 2026 Ordinance 1187 — Short-Term Rental Registration AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERTON ADDING CHAPTER 5.62 TO THE RIVERTON MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING SHORT-TERM RENTAL REGISTRATION The City Council of the City of Riverton does ordain as follows: Section 1. Chapter 5.62 added 5.62.010 Purpose. To preserve the City's long-term housing stock and neighborhood character while allowing residents to share their homes, by registering and regulating rentals of thirty consecutive nights or fewer. 5.62.020 Registration required. No person shall offer or operate a short-term rental without a current registration issued by the Community Development Director. Registrations are valid for one year and must be displayed in every listing. 5.62.030 Limits. A non-hosted short-term rental may be rented no more than 90 nights in a calendar year. Hosted rentals, in which the operator lives on site during the stay, are not subject to the night cap. 5.62.040 Operating standards. Operators shall provide a local contact able to respond within 60 minutes, post quiet hours of 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and limit occupancy to two persons per bedroom plus two. 5.62.050 Revocation. Three substantiated violations within twelve months result in revocation of the registration for one year, subject to administrative appeal. Section 2. Effective date This ordinance takes effect thirty days after adoption. Existing operators have ninety days from the effective date to register.
